Wild Krumpos

We didn’t have much, but we had Saturday mornings.

Don Krumpos

We didn’t have much, but we had Saturday mornings. Cartoons. Cereal. Pajamas until noon. The sense that the world paused for a few hours and let kids exist without expectation.

The TV glow in a dim living room felt like a portal. Not an escape from life — an expansion of it.

I think part of the Star Wars fixation later came from these mornings — the belief that stories could lift you out of the linear grind of adulthood and put you back in touch with wonder.

The problem wasn’t cartoons. It was the world outside of them — the part that wanted everything to be efficient, logical, monetized.

Saturday mornings were my first taste of creative time.

I’ve been trying to reclaim that space ever since.
