Linville Gorge
Woke up to hike the Linville Gorge. It is beautiful from many angles. Being up so early and during the middle of the week I am the only one here. The rocks in the gorge form so many beautiful patterns and the water rushing through the rocks down a chute to form the falls is so powerful.
Then I drove the Blue Ridge Parkway to Mount Mitchell and walked to the top for the view. After than I drove back to Asheville to pick up a few items at the REI there. It began to rain hard so I just drove to the Smoky Mountains National Park to wait out the rain. The rain had stopped by the time I got there. I parked at the visitors center to talk to a ranger about places to camp then headed to Clingman’s Dome to see the view from the highest view in the park. It was misty and foggy up there and being the middle of the week there was hardly anyone there. I drove back to Cherokee to stay in a cheap motel there for the night.
