Gospel at Elkmont
I was very sore and tired so I took it easy in the morning. I hiked back down the mountain and took a nice nap during the afternoon. I then went to the Chimney tops where was a good hike up the mountain again, but this was only 2 miles and full of many visitors. At the top was a rock climb up a vertical cliff side about 45 degrees but it was worth it because the view was fantastic of the Smoky Mountains. It reminded me of many of the views in Yosemite, but more green.
I went to Cherokee to visit the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, which was informative and amazing. I always enjoy Native American Museums I go to, such as the Pequot Museum in Connecticut and the Indian Museum of North America in Crazy Horse, SD. Whenever I am in nature I think of how this land was once lived in by Native Americans.
Being tired, I did a driving loop of Cades Cove, a 4 hour driving tour of the pastures and fields with the mountains in the distance of old frontiersman’s cabins and millers town, churches and wildlife. I took my time and took in the scenery and visited the stops.
I stayed that night in Elkmont campground. I set up my tent but there was time until I went to bed so I went to the group in the RV next door who had a campfire and sat at the campfire and played gospel music with them. Then I read in my tent until I fell asleep.
