A Week in Knoxville

Don Krumpos · Diary

I’ve been in Knoxville, visiting my sweetie, Jojo, for almost a week now. I left Sunday morning about 6 a.m. and drove through the day to get there. It was a very nice day for a drive and I listened to some audiobooks, such as Palahniuk’s “Stranger than Fiction” which I enjoyed, and then started Edwin Catmull’s “Creativity Inc.” which also is good so far. I arrived around 6 p.m. (7 p.m. Knoxville time) and she was not home, nor at the studio, so I text messaged her and she came right away and it was soo nice to see her. I’ve mostly been having to work for clients in our home here on the laptop, but we’ve been able to meet up at night for dinner. I’ve been meeting her new friends and everyone seems so nice. The artist printmaker, Yuji Hiratsuka is here, whom I had a chance to meet at Frogman’s and I got a chance to talk with him. We went to Sunspots for fancy tacos on Monday night. Tuesday night was Half Barrel for a burger. Wednesday I met up with Jim Phillips, whom I’m working for at Old City Java and he bought me a couple lattes and a muffin and we had a good talk. Thursday was Yuji’s talk and we all went to the Public House afterwards and I got to meet a lot of the grad students and they are just so nice.
