Stranded North of Wausau

Don Krumpos · Diary

Jojo and I left about 4 to go to Washburn to go skiing and see her aunt Kathleen and Joyce. It was a pretty drive up when we got past Wausau all the trees were covered with snow. We had spaghetti dinner and talked with them. Joyce and I stayed up and watched Divergent. That was my new year. Maybe one of these times I will party more, but I don’t feel like it lately. It is just another day. I try to celebrate every day. The next morning Kathleen, Jojo and I went to ABR to ski. It was a cold day, but pretty as there was a lot of snow there. It was a nice day to be out with blue skies. Jojo loved it of course. I went out a quite a few trails and loved it too. We went home and had a great supper of duck. We stayed up to watch Mocking Jay. On Friday Jojo and I drove to the Wolverine trails. We stopped to eat at Don & GiGi’s restaurant for a meal and beer. Right before we got to Wausau the electrical system was acting funny and right north of town it died. We just got far enough to a gas station. The owner was so nice and gave us a ride to a hotel, where we stayed and showered, drank wine and watched “The Goodfellas”. In the morning we called a tow truck which drove us back to the car, hauled it to Tires Plus. Jojo and I hung out at Barnes and Noble and had breakfast at the Starbucks there and read magazines for a couple hours until it was done. Then we drove home and got there about noon. We spent the next couple of days getting ready for Jojo’s move to NYC for an art residency at Guttenberg Arts. This came up fast. I feel like we’ve been waiting for it to come and now it is here.
