Arthur Turns Four

Don Krumpos · Diary

Today is Arthur’s birthday and he is 4 years old. It was the first day back to work for Erin, so it was just me and Arthur hanging out at home. I am so happy to be this little boys Dadda. I think he is just the most amazing little human and I love to try to see things through his eyes. He has such curiosity and imagination. It has been a busy last few weeks. We just got back from Chicago to celebrate the new year at Erin’s sister’s house. Erin, her dad, and I went for a walk around the neighborhood. Wes and Saudiel came a little later. They opened their Christmas presents to each other that Friday. We had a good ham dinner that night with cheesy potatoes and other fixings. We played Pictionary that night and Wes and Saudiel won. The next day we went to the Shedd Aquarium for Arthur’s birthday. It was very busy but I liked looking at the Beluga whales, jellyfish and sharks. Arthur really liked the sharks too. We went back to Katie’s house and celebrated Arthur’s birthday cake. The kids played “Pin the Tail on the Tyranosaurus Rex”. Arthur opened his gifts and got a lot of neat things. Wes and Saudiel went home that night. Erin, Arthur and I stayed one more night, but left the next morning on Sunday. Donnie was in Algoma before he headed to London and stopped over to say goodbye. He spent a lot of time in Arthur’s room. Those two are so cute together. Arthur likes his big brother a lot.

The past month of December was nice. We got our Christmas tree on November 26th. It was a nice little place near Forestville. There was fresh snow so we pulled Arthur on a sled and he picked out nice skinny tree that would fit in our house. We went to a breakfast buffet in Forestville on our way back. We trimmed the tree right away. Arthur really got into it this year. We spent time in our snowy backyard too I made a Krampus costume and wore it to the Kriskindlmarkt in Green Bay. It was fun because all the people there loved it and came up for portraits with me. Jill Iverson and Erin have been working hard on her mosaic. Arthur likes it when her and James come over. He likes to show off any time we have guests. Arthur is still staying home with me on Tuesdays and Thursdays until I get a full time job. It is nice to be able to spend so much time with my little son.

Eliora was in the Nutcracker in Oshkosh; Erin and I went on the 16th. Beforehand we stopped in Manitowoc to see Berel Lutsky’s retrospective art exhibition.

On Christmas Eve, Erin’s parents came over as well as Wes and Saudiel and Donnie. We ate dinner of ham and cheesy potatoes. It was nice to have all the people we love over and open gifts. Arthur received a lot of nice things. We played Fire Tower, a tabletop game Wes and Saudiel got for me. On Christmas Day, we went for a walk with Erin’s parents at Potawatomi Park. It was a very nice day. It was a very good Christmas holiday season
