The Living Room Floor

Don Krumpos · Diary

April was a good month. I started a new contract job coding with new technologies that I don’t know. I miss having Arthur home with me since he was home with me so much the past few months. He is my whole life now and I think he is the most darling little kid.

I think about being a kid a lot and how my parents must have loved me so much in the same way that I love Arthur.

Ah, let me take you back to the good ol’ living room floor, where life was simpler and happiness was just a part of the daily grind. Picture it: me at seven, eight, nine, ten—lost in a world of knights, castles, and Lego forts, while my sisters did their thing and my folks lounged with a cuppa, shooting the breeze like it was nobody’s business.

Johnny Cash on the turntable, crooned in the background, setting the mood for our little slice of domestic bliss. Those were the days, you know? When time wasn’t something you worried about and joy wasn’t a rare commodity, but something you just stumbled upon in the course of a normal day.

But time, well, it’s a sneaky little bugger, ain’t it? It slips away without you even noticing, leaving you with nothing but memories and a longing for the simplicity of days gone by. So here I am, wishing I could hit rewind and relive those moments on the living room floor, where life was as easy as pie and happiness was just a Lego castle away.
